Welcome to Alabayou! My name is Jacob James, and I am the founder of Alabayou. As a native of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, my family has been involved in the commercial fishing industry on the Gulf Coast for over 100 years.
My grandfather currently owns Rodnockers bar, located on top of his shrimp dock called Samuel’s Seafood.
I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in operations management. Since then, I have used my education and passion for seafood to build a career in the industry.
I have catered hundreds of events, serving seafood-inspired dishes that have become famous throughout the Southeast. My boiled shrimp, boiled crawfish, and fried fish are known to be the best in the country.
Through my experiences in the industry, I have become an expert in every aspect of the seafood industry, from catching and processing to cooking and selling.
I have a deep understanding of the challenges that the commercial fishing industry faces, and I am committed to preserving the values and traditions of this important industry.
With Alabayou, my goal is to share my knowledge and passion for seafood with others. I want to educate the public about the commercial seafood industry and the people who make it possible.
I believe that by doing so, we can help to ensure that this industry continues to thrive for generations to come.
